Project Objective: Development of an integrated system for coastal prognoses (wave fields, circulation and sea level) and their transmission through television broadcasts, internet and web-based GIS applications for the area of the Thermaikos Gulf. The system combines state-of-the-art weather, wave, hydrodynamic circulation and storm surge forecasting techniques with innovative technologies in order to bridge the gap between research and community, providing Greek users with a useful operational tool for their sea-based activities.
Project Objectives
  • Development of a state-of-the-art wave, coastal circulation and storm surge forecast system for the area of the Thermaikos gulf
  • Broadcast of 3-day forecasts via television and web applications
  • Dissemination of results that can be directly exploitable by the users
  • Results focused on areas of interest (aquacultures, protected areas)
